Master Your Craft
Mastering any craft requires practice, so yes basketball players need to hoop, a lot! For some, finding a physical space that is comfortable to play in can be a bit of a challenge. Encourage a few teammates to come with you – make it a weekly thing, and commit to the process and to each other.
Be Accountable
Much like working out and creating better lifestyle habits, an accountability partner can help keep us on track. When your workout concludes make sure to fuel your body – I like to think about the body much like a car. The car requires fuel to get from A to B. But the longer and further you drive that car without regular maintenance the more labor, you’ll have to put into it later.
If athletes are putting healthy food in their bodies and eating regularly, for the distances they’re about to travel – injury is unfortunately far more likely. Much like technology has made more things accessible it has also increased the number of student-athletes who require those advancements. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, there are ”
“more than 100,000 ACL reconstructions performed in the US each year. The injury has skyrocketed among 14-18-year-olds, increasing by 147.8 percent over the last 10 years, and increasing 2.3 percent annually.”

Treat Your Body
So as much as you want to repeat and get right back on the court – take care of your body, not just rest but injury prevention, strengthen your muscles around your joints – treat your body like it’s the only one you have because it is.
